Building on last year’s outstanding success in Berlin, GBTA Conference 2015 | Frankfurt in partnership with VDR tipped the 1,000 delegate mark making it once again, Europe’s foremost business travel conference.
The Welcome Plenary saw delegates challenged to embrace change by brand guru Dietmar Dahmen, opening keynote speaker, sponsored by Amadeus. Alan Rich, CEO of Chrome River; Bill Glenn, CEO of American Express Global Business Travel; and Patrick Diemer, Managing Director and Chairman of AirPlus International came together on stage. Moderated by GBTA’s Mike McCormick, these distinguished industry leaders provided their personal insights into the current state of business travel industry transformational trends such as big data, the rise of mobility, the sharing economy and developments in technology.
Konstantin Sixt shared his views on one of the most colourful organisations in business travel, talking about the secret of the company’s success, its plans for the future and his view on the outlook of the industry. Lufthansa Group’s CEO, Carsten Spohr shared his perspectives on the future of the industry, specifically focusing on Lufthansa’s flight plan for growth and strategy for the future.
GBTA Europe Advisory Board Chair, Torbjorn Erling, Global Meeting & Travel Manager, IKEA Group was presented with the prestigious GBTA Direct Member of Year Award previously announced at GBTA Convention 2015. Mr Erling’s leadership, passion and ability to think creatively has helped GBTA navigate the European business travel marketplace.
The GBTA Luoma Award was created in 2011 in honour of Jutta Luoma, the Executive Director of the Finnish Business Travel Association (FBTA). The winner of this year’s award was Jens Liltorp, Travel Director, Novo Nordisk A/S. He has been a staunch supporter of GBTA – as member of the Stategic Benchmark Group and now the Hotel Committee he actively works to share his knowledge to the improvement of the industry.
