Kojo Bentum-Williams is a Senior Expert on Communications at UNWTO and the CEO of VoyagesAfriq Media Limited. We’ll unpack how ready Africa is for business travel.
He is the founder and managing editor of VoyagesAfriq Media Limited, a pan African travel media company which publishes VoyagesAfriq Travel Magazine and operates the online portal VoyagesAfriq.com. He previously worked as the press secretary to Ghana’s Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts until 2014 and also worked a press officer at the Ghana Tourism Authority. Mr Bentum-Williams has covered a wide range of global travel and tourism conferences and he is seen by many as one of the authorities in the affairs of the UNWTO.

In this time of heightened uncertainty we thought it appropriate to engage with an expert to hear about his view on the changing landscape and the effect it may have on Policy and duty of care responsibilities for your organisation.

This week Andy Williams from SafeHotels joined our conversation. SafeHotels have just launched a Covid-19 Standard and Certification for hotels. Andrew discussed the importance of having a standard for all hotels and other types of accommodation regarding fire, safety and security. During this time is is important to work on plans and having schedules for training to ensure the hotel industry builds confidence and trust moving forward.
All accommodation is supported and can become a certified establishment.
There is a process to be followed to become a certified establishment and only following an onsite audit inspection will SafeHotels issue an actual Certificate to the hotels. Contact Robyn Christie for more information.
